Jihe Architecture Parapraxis is a design studio established by Keith Chenhao Lin, an architect with nearly 20 years of professional experience. He graduated from the University of Sydney with Bachelor of Architecture with Honours and earned Master of Architecture with Distinction from Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He is currently working on his doctoral thesis on Chinese aesthetics at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. The studio is focused on the exploration of architecture and design practice as extended and interwoven fields of ideological, aesthetic, social, technological, and material configurations. The ambition of the studio, as the name—a compound word consisting of para and praxis—indicates, points to a disciplinary position that is at once outside, adjacent, and beyond practice per se that aims to constantly motivate the evolution of the discipline toward new formations of knowledge and conceptions. We believe design is a fundamental form of human creativity that is capable of engendering positive change in society and the environment while endeavoring to produce works of enduring quality that espouse the spirit of innovation and critical reflection.
